Womenswear Spring/Summer 2020 Collection

Womenswear Spring/Summer 2020 Collection

This collection was my senior thesis project. I completed this collection in May 2020. Despite the challenges I faced with COVID-19, having to leave school in the middle of the semester, moving back home to Oregon, and leaving without Marist College resources, I continued to push myself to complete this portfolio.

This collection is about making diverse women feel confident in themselves and their clothing. It is colorful, fun, and sophisticated. Size inclusivity is a main feature of this collection. These garments could be worn by women of all sizes. The inspiration for this collection began with a photograph I took of an electron micrograph of coral, and the texture and colors reminded me of fireworks. Controlled explosion is about texture, color, and prints. A main technique I used was laser cutting, to create cutouts in the garments and create a fringe effect with hand sewn laser cut shapes. I also digitally designed the prints featured in this collection.

For this collection, I designed and created looks by hand. Going from sketch, to pattern-making, cutting, sewing, finishing, to photographing. It was an amazing creative process to experience. I am thankful to have beautiful women model my pieces. To see looks from the photo shoot: Click Here.
